STUD VISIT

2016 STUD VISIT

A great day was had on our Annual Stud Visit on Sunday to the Bronheulog and Perthog Studs. We as an association would like to thank both studs for all the hard work they had done and their very kind generosity. Much appreciated. A fantastic day out seeing a George Prince of Wales Winner looking tremendous.

2015 STUD VISIT

The annual stud visit was blessed with glorious weather! First stop was the Cadlanvalley Stud where we saw lovely section B ponies along with the two Colne section A’s; Tulip and Torpedo. We then headed over the Preseli mountain for Sunday lunch at Tafarn Sinc before ending the day at the Glyncoch Stud with a lovely selection of Section A’s, C’s and D’s with Glyncoch Hyfryd the Royal Welsh and Cuddy Champion closing the show.

2014 STUD VISIT

The first Sunday of September saw a coach load of members and friends setting off on the Annual Stud visit this year being to the Brynseion Stud where the four sections of the breed were present, a very enjoyable time was had leisurely walking around the fields visiting the mares, and then returning to the yard for a display of in hand and ridden ponies and cobs before we were treated to a feast on the lovely grounds surrounding their home, our sincere thanks to Mr and Mrs Fell for their kind hospitality and warm welcome.

2011 Stud Visit

Again came early September and this year it was decided to go and visit the Islyn and Hilin Stud’s of North Wales. Last year the cob breeders of the association were please so it was the welsh mountain and welsh pony breeders to be pleased. We started the day at the Islyn Stud were we saw some beautiful welsh mountain ponies at the side of the lake. Members received a very warm welcome thanks to the Jones Family. Diolch yn Fawr iawn. On went the bus then to the Hilin Stud where we saw beautiful Section B ponies both in hand and ridden. Again the Evans family provided us with a very warm welcome. Diolch yn Fawr I chwi gyd.

2010 Stud Visit

Once again came early September where our members headed up to the Midlands to see the lovely ponies at the Trevallion Stud. As it was a long journey the association decided to attend only one stud rather that two as we usually do. The ponies we saw at the Trevallion Stud were in excellent condition and we also saw some George Prince Of Wales winners on our visit.

We had a very warm welcome and members enjoyed the day thoroughly thanks to Mr Nelson Smith and family.

2009 STUD VISIT

The Stud visit in early September saw members meeting up again. The Association headed north this time to Anglesey and a display of welsh ponies and cobs was provided by the local Association. It was certainly an eye sight to see all these lovely welsh ponies of such high quality at one destination. We also visited numerous Studs on the island that provided an excellent welcome and was such an experience to visit the Llanidan Stud to see all the beautiful mares out in fields and to witness where the striking foals that fetch such good prices at the October Sale in Builth come from. Thank you ever so much to all who were involved with organizing the day. Diolch yn Fawr

2008 STUD VISIT

Our 2008 Stud visit took place on Sunday September 7th. From an early start in Aberystwyth, over 60 members joined our coach party for the morning tour of the world famous Heniarth stud of Welsh Section A and B ponies. It was a treat to see so many Royal Welsh and HOYS winners at close quarters, and we admire Meirion Davies and Richard Miller for their dedication in selecting stock rigourously for their ability to perform. Following luncheon, we proceeded to the Osbourn Stud near Penclawdd, where the Swistun family showed us their large collection of C and D mares grazing above the estuary. We were then treated to a spectacular Hog Roast after viewing the mares, foals and stallions back at the family’s home. A big thank you to both studs for their hospitality.

2007 STUD VISIT

The Autumn 2007 season began with a stud visit on Sunday 2nd September to Popsters and Parvadean stud in the Forest of Dean, where we were treated to a display of the stud’s Section A and C ponies in hand and under saddle. Later we travelled to Donys Welsh Cob Stud perched high above Sennybridge. Our thanks to those energetic young handlers for running some great moving cobs uphill, and to both the Davis and Kirk families for their hospitality.
